As its name suggests, the Cast Iron House at 361 Broadway is an 1882 construction in the neoclassical style that is characteristic of Greenwich Village - the form of which is complemented by the decidedly modern lines, right angles, and white metal of a penthouse addition. The two penthouses have a cantilevered design which permits their glass walls to open up their spaces, making for a modern play on living space. To be sure, the rhythm presented in the addition perfectly matches that of the original building, making for a cohesive and iconic structure. Its interiors maintain the overriding theme of clean modernity with references to the past in white lacquer, paired with aluminium accents.
